~To Read A Book~
The kids are safely tucked in bed;
I've had a busy day.
My limbs are tired from keeping up;
I need to get away.
Cannot afford a big vacation,
the children needing shoes.
Sometimes I find it difficult
to chase away the blues.
The quietness surrounds me;
there's not a single sound.
I'll settle down and read a book
till I become unwound.
Inside these pages I will find
majestic lands so rare.
I'll lose myself while reading
and think that I am there.
I will become a princess,
if only in my mind,
take off my cleaning apron,
leave drudgery behind.
Then when the morning wakens,
I'll find that when I look
my spirit has been renewed
by the pages in a book.
